How To Make Money
This Guide goes over the main methods of Income in Vassal.
This Guide goes over the main methods of Income in Vassal.
Shipping Bins are the most simple and straightforwards method of Income in Vassal. Simple Craft a Shipping Bin, Place it Down, and fill it with Sellable Items. Then, at midnight, you'll get your Profits!
Now, the Shipping Bin isn't necessarily the most lucrative method of Income. Shipping Prices are much lower than if you were to sell to other players, and you can only sell a limited selection of items, but it's consistent and simple.
The main kinds of items that can be Sold in a Shipping Bin are Logs, Crops, Leather, Textiles, Misc. Raw Materials such as Clay, Ores, Ingots, Gems, and some Mob Drops.
Self Explanatory, you can also make money through Villager Trading, which now (mostly) use Coins. However, Trading Halls are patched out of the Game, meaning you'll need to give them suitable space and homes and freedom. They also don't have the greatest trades, making this arguably worse than the Shipping Bin, but still an option. Besides, you can also Buy items from them.
Obviously, Money can be exchanged for Goods and Services, so if you provide those goods or services, you can get some money from other Players! Blacksmithing is one of the best professions for Player Trade, as everyone wants to commission armour, but any profession can make you money if you just set up a Shop block to sell your Product.
Coins can be found in many loot chests, as well as dropped from some mobs like Pillagers. Dungeon Crawling and Taking out Bandits is probably the best way for the adventurous player to make money. Bandits will often spawn as large patrols near players over time, so they're decently reliable (if you can defeat them, that is).
Coins will often be rewarded at the end of or obtained during events that include combat or exploration! These can reward quite a good bit of money, though they're not always happening, and therefore this method isn't always available. Additionally, some Events may not be Combat-Focused, meaning there likely won't be a monetary reward from them.
You can also get money from Completing Quests, either posted by your Local Nobles, or by other Players! Quests from Nobles tend to be the most productive and the most rewarding, so I would prioritize those first and foremost.
As a Noble or Lord/Lady, you will have a small passive income of Taxes! It entirely depends on your power and influence, though it doesn't actually come from other player's wallets. It's simply a simulated system of Taxes.
Your Tax Income depends on the area of your control, your power as a noble, the happiness of your people, and how well financially the area(s) you control are doing. If you are not currently making any Tax Income, contact Autumnly and she'll set it up for you.
You're encouraged to use your Tax Income to incentivize the peasants to do tasks for you, such as Building a Castle or Expanding Roads.
