Dwarves

The Dwarves were an Ancient Race of Humanoids that have since "left" Tannal. They were short, hardy, exceptionally strong, and skilled in many crafts.
There's no one known reason for why The Dwarves left. However, the most popular theory states that they were a gift from the earth itself, and when they had fulfilled their duty of sharing knowledge and skill with the people of Tannal, they returned back to the earth from whence they came.
Their main lasting legacies are the knowledge and skills they brought to the people of Tannal, the Ancient Dwarven Ruins scattered across the continent, and of course, the Dwemar, the half-dwarven descendants that still live in Tannal to this day.
Dwarves usually stood somewhere around 4'8 to 5'2, and while their exact lifespans were unknown (A Dwarf dying of Old Age was quite literally unheard of), they were definitely exceptionally long, with many reaching well into their 100s.
While Dwarves were Humanoid, it's not clear if they were actually related to Humans very closely at all. They definitely shared many features, but many ancient sources state their internal biology was wildly different, some even saying they had 2 Hearts and 2 Livers, though that could very well be a myth.
Dwarves possessed a special kind of Genetic Memory, literally passing on their learned skills to their offspring through genes, meaning that a child of a Dwarf would always have the accumulated knowledge of all their parents before them. Dwemar also possess this trait to an extent, though it's not quite as strong.
