Religions and Cults in Vassal have more meaning than in our world, it's not an arbitrary classification, but a specific one. Religions are consider "Proper" because they have Deities associated with them.
Unlike in our world where Deities depend on your personal belief and what proof religious texts give to the people who follow them, Deities in Vassal regularly communicate with Mortals, and sometimes even walk among them. You cannot "Invent" a Deity. Deities are Born, make their Presence Known, and may one day even Die. It is even said in the early days of the world there was another set of Deities that have long since died.
Cults, on the other hand, are focused around worshipping things that exist or have existed in the physical world, such as People, Objects, or Creatures.
A Religion somewhat similar to Medieval Christianity, with a "Good" Deity (Eion) and a "Bad" Deity (Ydon) locked in Eternal Contest for Mortal's Reverence and Worship.
Worship of Eion is the Standard of Eionism, and typically those who worship Ydon are cast out or Punished.
A Polytheistic Religion (Multiple Deities) that is the more "Traditional" Religion of the main two. Each Lotheistic Deity has a certain Domain that they encompass.
Lotheistic Deities:
Kiriel, Goddess of Humanity and the Cycle of Life
Irah, God of Craftsmen
Diesya, Goddess of the Earth, Nature, & Seasons
Cala, God of the Hunt, Food, & Entertainment
Naeliah, Goddess of Fertility & Harvest
Romis, God of Love & Magic
A religion based around the worship of a set of saint-like figures known as “The Eternal Oracles”. These were real, living people, who during their lives predicted important event(s), and were then canonized as oracles after their death. Fanatics of this religion believe that in the end times, the oracles will rise from the grave and ascend with their believers, while the non-believers will have their souls obliterated forever.
Eudes, Oracle of Fortune
He predicted several important details which resulted in great wealth for those that took his predictions seriously.
Isot, Oracle of War
She predicted several deaths of important figures, along with multiple attempts of murder and espionage.
Rothais, Oracle of Pestilence
She predicted 3 great plagues and countless famines, arguably helping to reduce the death tolls of these events.
Ouin, Oracle of Return
He predicted several important divine events, but most notably many events that have yet to come.
This is a cult that believes dragons are blessed and divine creatures, and that they are the purest and most worthy to rule.
Followers of this cult often worship a specific dragon, bringing it offerings of food and treasure.
They have an unsurprisingly high mortality rate.
