Kalar are a Lineage of Humans whose bloodline was blessed long ago by some form of Divine Magic, leaving their biology permanently altered.
While the exact origins of the Kalar are unclear, there are many myths, often revolving around legendary heroes being blessed by a deity and their offspring being changed by their blessing.
Kalar are the rarest of the Human Races, though they still manage to keep their lineage alive.
Notably, Kalar have an innate connection to magic, and their ranks contain many of the most skilled human mages.
Kalar usually stand somewhere around 5'3 to 5'9, and have lifespans of 90-100 years on average.
Nerevar are physically notable for their golden, often somewhat radiant skintone. This can range from a pale gold to a dark bronze, but always somewhat metallic and radiant.
Additionally, they often have other markers that denote them as Kalar. Most common is a streak of white or shimmering gold in their hair, or unusually coloured eyes, such as gold or fully white.
Kalar blood and genes are potent, with their blood being literally shimmering gold. Even if just one parent is Kalar, the child will almost always be full-Kalar. There is no such thing as a mixed Kalar child, though there is a small percentage of children of a Kalar and other species that do not recieve the bloodline.
Though Kalar are blessed by Divine Magic, they are not Demi-Gods, something of a step below that. They do not have any connections to any specific deities, though some may speculate such. They are not even necessarily favoured by any particular gods, though some followers of Eion believe that the Kalar are "more holy" than other races.
Innately, they do have better connection to Magic. While they aren't born with the strict skill to utilize it, they have a much easier time accessing the flow of magic and bending it to their will.
Being Divine Creatures, Kalar do have an effect on the undead, often able to "Purify" them. Some myths even speak of undead hordes fleeing from a single unarmed Kalar priest, though that's likely just a Story. Due to this Divine Nature, however, Kalar suffer one major magical downside. Upon their deaths, nothing short of a Divine Miracle can bring them back. No Necromancy can Raise them, No Spell can Wake them.
